Thank you so much Rebecca! I really enjoy writing fiction and especially crime fiction. I’m trying to do more of this short form writing because I dig Substack and the community here (and awesome people like who make kind comments!) I will keep serving up some fiction and I hope you’ll keep reading and will enjoy it.

This such a well done short story, I was riveted the entire time! I always find it impressive when a short story manages to get you inside a characters head and life in such a short span of time. Well done 👏🏽

Thank you Kiran! I was really interested in the viewpoint of a witness. They obviously see something they’d rather not have seen which is bad enough. But what if - I wondered - the disclosure has some real stakes for them personally? That was the concept I was playing with. Really glad you liked it!

Yes! The exploration of the moral dilema is what draws me to stories like this!

Jack, I have to apologize. I read this earlier and then got pulled away (for most of the damn day) before I could comment. Loved it. As I think you know, we're crime fiction brothers. This was right up my alley. Thanks for sharing. - Jim

Thanks so much Jim! I meant to send you a note that I enjoyed your piece from the other day about the end of the world. I’m glad you enjoyed mine. And yes! I am here for the crime fiction. I plan to do more of it - maybe even a serial. I’ve got some ideas. Thanks so much for reading and for sending this message!
